(San Francisco, CA - August 19, 2010) Bay Area
non-profit, For The Bayou, is very pleased to announce, "Bay
For The Bayou",
an all-star weekend of music and benefit concert for South
Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Headlined by some of New Orleans'
finest musicians including George Porter Jr., Anders Osborne,
Ivan Neville, and special guest appearance by Zigaboo Modeliste,
the benefit will take place at San Francisco's historic Bimbo's
365 Club on Sunday, September 19th. All net proceeds from the
event will directly benefit urgently needed humanitarian and
environmental relief in the Gulf Coast.
For this inaugural, annual benefit, For The Bayou has gathered a top
flight group of New Orleans' musicians; singer-songwriter Anders Osborne,
the rhythm section of the legendary band The Meters, George Porter
Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste, Dumpstaphunk's Ivan Neville and Ian Neville
and first call guitarist Billy Iuso. Rounding out the bill is one
of New Orleans' most acclaimed up-and-coming bands Honey Island Swamp
Band to play with special guest, John Mooney and more. Opening the
gig is NOLA's own, JUICE, a Crescent City rock band steeped in funk.
Additional special guests to be announced.

For The Bayou works with musicians and artists that
support restoration and protection of Louisiana’s wetlands and speak
to the emergency humanitarian needs of the people living in South
Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast. In working with these artists,
they hope to educate fans on the importance of our nation’s biggest
coastal wetlands, and to help preserve this environment, its culture
and its people for many generations to come.
For The Bayou caps off an extremely successful year
for the organization's mission. Earlier this summer, For The
Bayou raised over $3500 at San Francisco's All Shook Down
Festival with Ivan Neville. This year alone For The Bayou has allocated
$10,000 in humanitarian relief to the Alliance For Gulf Coast Communities
fund, $2,000 Gulf Response Initiative Team (GRIT) for wetland and
shoreline recovery, $1,000 to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana
for a marsh restoration project along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain
and an additional $2,000 to Barataria Terrebonne National Estuary
Program for emergency coastal habitat for nesting seabirds. In June,
For The Bayou founder, Elizabeth Goodwin Welborn, received an award
on behalf of the organization at Louisiana's State of the Coast Conference
for their organization's outstanding efforts and work.
Relief for the region could not come at a better time. The BP Gulf
Oil Disaster is the worst environmental disaster in the history of
the United States. The damage to the wetlands, wildlife, waters, people
and businesses of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast are yet to be quantified.
The emergency needs of the people and wildlife are increasing daily
and are in need of your help.
Please join us and hundreds of WHO DATS in town on September 19 in
getting funky for this worthy cause.
